Why Fortnite is the Best Game to Kill Time During Quarantine

At the moment, we are going through the difficult times of quarantine due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Thankfully, gamers have a number of titles to keep them occupied during lockdown, and one particular game that stands out in these times is the immensely popular battle royale title, Fortnite. There is so much for you to do in the games, from diving into the action, to checking out the latest Fortnite items, indulging in the battle pass, and much more.

There is a number of reasons as to why you should be spending this time trying out the online phenomenon, courtesy of Epic Games. So if you have finished binging your favourite TV shows, finished off that movie boxset, and are looking for a new video game to try out, here is why you should be diving off the battle bus into the world of Fortnite.

It’s Free!

This is always a good place to start in a time like this. In these uncertain times, money can be tight for a lot of people. The good news is that one of the most loved games of the generation can be played without you having to spend a penny.

The battle royale mode, which has attracted millions of players since launch, is available to you for free. There are a number of features that you can choose to spend your money on, which predominantly focuses around cosmetics. This isn’t entirely necessary, unless you choose to spruce up your character with an assortment of new skins, gliders and more. If this is the game that you will be spending most of your time with, and you have the means to do so, then there are some neat things that you can buy within the battle pass. They aren’t completely necessary though, and you don’t have to spend anything if you don’t want to.

Fortnite is a Fun, and Social Experience

So we know that it is free to play, which is great. Even for this low price, the game still needs to be fun. There isn’t much to worry about here, as Fortnite has proved itself to be one of the most fun games to play in its respective genre. As well as being an established shooter, there is plenty of challenge to go with it. Combined with the battle royale elements is a building mechanic that is easy to learn, difficult to master. This creates a new set of strategies for you to adapt to compared to similar games, which makes for a lot of fun.

As for the social aspect, this is something that is important in these times. You will want to be staying in contact with families and friends as much as possible. This is a big part of the game when playing in both duos and groups. It ultimately allows you to spend time with those you love, and also provides the chance to meet new people from the comfort of your home.

Embrace your Creativity

It isn’t all about diving onto an island to be the last person or team standing. Fortnite also offers a Creative Mode to let your imagination run wild within the confines of the game. You can pretty much create anything that comes to mind, from mazes to entire maps. If you want to take inspiration from other players, then you can even use it as an area to practice your skills before heading into battle royale.

Some players have even gone one step further to replicate maps from other shooters. So as you can see, there is no limit to what you can create in this mode. If you need to let off some steam from your creative side, then this is certainly the place for you to do it.

Available on All Major Platforms

Finally, it is available on just about every mainstream platform on the gaming market. You can pick up the title for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile. What’s more, there is cross-play so you can enjoy the game with your friends without worrying about having to always worry about what device they are using.

With all that being said, Fortnite is a great choice for a game in general, and arguably the best choice when it comes to being in quarantine. There is plenty of gameplay to scratch your competitive itch, as well as your social and creativity needs. If you want to enhance your look, be sure to check out the Fortnite items shop too!
