Riot Games had to release the Valorant 1.12 patch update literally a week after the previous one because of the issues plaguing the game. In the patch notes that released today, Riot said,
“As mentioned in the recent Ask VALORANT, the problematic release of Patch 1.11 is forcing us to reevaluate what it takes to raise the quality bar for patch days going forward. So, while we’re not skipping Patch 1.12, we’re giving it a light touch.
“Updates to the Observer and the social panel are the stars this time around, along with some bug fixes. The in-match display of Act Rank Badges will continue to be suspended while we figure out what’s contributing to the performance hitches.”
Riot has also mentioned that they will lay off releasing updates until the 8th of December.
Valorant 1.12 patch focuses on the performance hitches and the Observer and Social panels, along with other bug fixes
As for the Act Rank glitch that players have been facing, devs have said that they are currently investigating the issue. Until they figure this out, they will keep Act Rank badges disabled in-game. However, the badges will still be visible in Competitive lobbies, map load-ins, and on the end-of-game screens.
As for the observer and social panels, devs have made the following changes:
- Observers in a match will no longer hear the ping audio.
- On the social panel, they will appear “in-game” on the social panel.
- They can now view and type in /all chat in custom games.
- Devs have fixed the overlapping Observer UI when a player is planting/defusing.
- Devs also added Game State Modification cheat to allow moderators to adjust various aspects of the game in a competitive setting.
In addition to this, devs have fixed a persistent issue that caused Val-51 error when players would leave or disconnect from a Custom Game.
Patch 1.12 is a little lighter as we worked on fixing up bugs introduced by 1.11.
