Top Fortnite Free Agents (Updated 2021)

Who are currently the top free agent players in Fortnite?

Competitive Fortnite has experienced a significant resurgence in the esports organization scene. Just a year ago, the game was in a much worse state than now, given the uncertainty around its competitive future or potential lack thereof. Some brands like FaZe Clan and NRG stuck around, while others cut their losses and withdrew from Fortnite. Recent headline-grabbing acquisitions from G2 Esports and Guild Esports have boosted the presumed struggling Battle Royale title back into the limelight.

While organizational representation might not mean a lot in the grand scheme of Fortnite, there is still value in the connection between a player and a top esports brand. The mere sight of a FaZe or NRG tag often gives a glimpse of that competitor’s talent. Additionally, popular Twitch streamers like Cody “Clix” Conrod double as a competitive player under the NRG banner. Free agents in Fortnite have been flying off the shelf left and right, but there are some critical names in North America and Europe without adequate support. Let’s take a look at some notable names who are sitting on the free-agent market.

Chapix

Fortnite World Cup Finalist Chapix first appeared on our ‘Top Free Agents List’ nearly one calendar year ago. Since then, the Swede’s stock has risen significantly. Chapix reached the four of the last six Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) Grand Finals with varying results. He found two teammates in GUILD Esports players JannisZ and Hen to complement his playstyle in Chapter 2 – Season 5.

Chapix, JannisZ and Hen accomplished the unthinkable, winning two Trio Cash Cups and rounding out the season by claiming the Axe of Champions in FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 5. Chapix finally earned his first massive tournament win, and there could be more on the horizon. The three-year Fortnite pro has a lot to offer and seems to have found his groove already in 2021.

Rezon ay

German Fortnite player Rezon ay arrived on the scene seemingly out of nowhere in 2020. He’s found success in multiple different formats over the last 365 days. Rezon possesses three solo tournament victories on his resumè along with four FNCS Grand Final appearances. Out of those five tournaments, Rezon finished 10th, 14th, 7th and 3rd. Unfortunately, a player suspension in Chapter 2 – Season 4 forced him out of the competition.

Regardless, the German rallied back in Chapter 2 – Season 5 with Vadeal and Noahreyli en route to a third-place FNCS finish. There is no doubt that Rezon established himself as a consistent player over the last year. It’s only a matter of time before an organization signs him, given his talent and Twitch presence.

Commandment

Our previous players are unquestionably two of the best in their region, and NA East player Josh “Commandment” Roach fits that same bill. It seems at times that this former TSM player does not receive the full recognition of his talents in the region. Perhaps overshadowed by trio teammates Cented and Edgey, Commandment’s accomplishments date back to the Fortnite World Cup.

He qualified for the Grand Finals as a solo, where he secured a 20th place finish. Recent successes for Commandment include two consecutive second-place results in the Fortnite Champion Series. TSM parted ways with Commandment during their brief exit from Fortnite, so he is available currently. His spot on the list is a no-brainer.

Refsgaard

Swedish player Oscar “Refsgaard” Dalgas Refsgaard is a new free agent on the market after he mutually left E11 Gaming. Another veteran on this list, Refsgaard, began his journey in the Fortnite World Cup Qualifier days. He has vastly improved his skills and results over the last two years, which produced two FNCS Grand Final appearances. Refsgaard finished 21st and 18th in those tournaments.

The Swede secured victories in two third-party events – the Razer Invitational and Logitech G Cup Spring. Refsgaard has supreme upside and one of the more popular Twitch streams in the EU region, making him appealing to esports organizations. The 16-year-old is seeking another successful FNCS tournament in Season 6 alongside MrSavage and Endretta.

Klass

NA East player Brandon “Klass” Weaver has not let his exit from famous esports brand 100 Thieves in May of 2020 sap his strength. Klass, who held the honor of being one of 100 players to participate in the Fortnite World Cup Solo Finals, caught the organization’s attention before competing offline. Klass finished the World Cup in 28th place and then struggled in Season X and Chapter 2 – Season 1. FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 2 marked a resurgence of sorts, where Klass and duo partner TristanHipp finished in 11th.

Klass and 100 Thieves parted ways shortly after, which he channeled into a runner-up finish in FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 3. The North American has since qualified for one of the last two FNCS events. Klass’s comeback story should put him on the radar for organizations searching for an underrated NA East talent.

Wavyjacob

Top controller player wavyjacob is one of the standout talents in Fortnite’s NA West region. However, he has only spent time with one esports organization since beginning his competitive career in 2019. Wavyjacob ascended the ranks in NA West and possessed more than ten Cash Cup victories in many different formats. Additionally, he qualified for every FNCS Grand Final since Season X, with two back-to-back fifth-place finishes in Chapter 2 – Season 5 and Season 6.

Given wavyjacob’s rather impressive career, it’s surprising that some tier-one organizations have not made a run at him. That sentiment goes one step further, considering his successful Twitch stream, where he boasts well over 300k followers. Wavyjacob seems to be enjoying his time streaming and churning out impressive finishes. Someone will inevitably sign him soon.
