Ubisoft has officially revealed Tom Clancy’s XDefiant, which will see a mashup of characters from Tom Clancy games battle it out in a class-based first-person shooter environment.
The Tom Clancy video game universe is one of the most popular globally and spans across various franchises like Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and The Division.
Tom Clancy’s video game universe will be getting even bigger in the future, with the reveal of Tom Clancy’s XDefiant having taken place on July 19, 2021.
XDefiant will see characters from various Tom Clancy games battle it out against each other in Factions in a free-to-play arena first-person shooter that will no doubt deliver plenty of adrenaline-fueled action, and we have all of the currently known details for Tom Clancy’s XDefiant covered for you.
Tom Clancy’s XDefiant reveal
The official reveal for the new Ubisoft game took place on July 19 via the Publisher’s YouTube channel, which you can find below:
This reveal video gave players a first-look at what they can expect when they jump into the new game and a rundown of various aspects by a couple of the game’s developers that include Mark Rubin, who worked on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Ghosts as a member of Infinity Ward.
Players will find that the gameplay from the new game focuses on individuals using different Factions that include specific traits, abilities, and ultras to defeat their opponents.
The arcade and fast-paced nature of the game’s gameplay that has been shown so far will likely be popular among players who enjoy Call of Duty’s style of play.
The developers for the game also stated in the reveal video that gun gameplay will be their main focus and that it will be the most important factor in winning and losing.
Tom Clancy’s XDefiant Factions
There have been four Factions officially revealed for the game so far. They are the Wolves, Outcasts, Cleaners, and Echelon, who veteran Tom Clancy players will recognize as character groups from other games in the Tom Clancy universe.
These Factions will duke it out in competitive 6v6 game modes that include the likes of Domination and Escort. All of this action will take part on maps from various locations in the Clancy universe.
Platforms & Tests
Players can now head to the game’s official website and register to take part in upcoming tests for Tom Clancy’s XDefiant. The platforms that these tests will be available on are the following:
- Playstation 4
- Xbox One
- Xbox Series S/X
- Playstation 5
The first closed test of the game will be available for registered PC players in the US and Canada to experience on August 5.
