Overtime Gaming releases SerpentAU after Macro allegations

For those who are unaware, using a macro in a video game refers to an outside program giving you the ability to bind several mouse movements, keystrokes, etc. to a single button, making it easier to complete certain tasks.

The topic of using macros in Fortnite has recently surfaced – largely due to a feud between two Australian YouTubers. EJLad accused SerpentAU of using macros for fast editing in his videos. SerpentAU admitted that he did use a program once for a video, but decided against it going forward.

That’s not the topic we’re discussing, here, but it sets the stage for why macros seem to be a hot topic in the Fortnite community. This story starts with a series of now-deleted tweets from NRG Fortnite pro, Williams ‘Zayt’ Aubin. The first tweet promised to expose popular Fortnite pros who used macros to achieve the “double movement” technique.

In a follow-up tweet, Zayt called out Tfue, UnknownArmy, Zexrow, BuckeFPS, Khanada, and Kreo. “I found out about double movement a year ago and practiced it,” Zayt wrote in another tweet. “Now all these pros use macros and it’s just f***ing annoying. Probably nothing will happen to them.”

All of the Fortnite pros who were mentioned in this tweet – with the exception of Tfue and Zexrow – directly responded to these allegations. None of the pros who responded seemed to take the situation overly seriously as they proclaimed their innocence.

As we said, Zayt deleted these tweets and offered no proof that any of the pros he mentioned were using macros, All of them seemed to let the accusation slide after a couple of jabs in return.

It’s very difficult to tell whether or not a player is using subtle macros from a viewer’s perspective. There may very well be some pros out there who use them, but there isn’t any concrete evidence that Kreo, Bucke, Unknown, Tfue, ZexRow, and Khanada are among them.

We reached out to Zayt for clarification on these tweets. He responded by telling us that “there is 0 evidence of anyone except Tfue, currently.” In reference to the other pros he named, he said, “I’m pretty sure they are all legit.”

At the time of writing, we have no evidence of Tfue or any other Fortnite pros using macros for double-movement. Zayt, for his part, appears convinced that Tfue is using them – albeit without any substantive proof. We’ll keep you posted if anything else comes to light with this story.
