Fortnite’s current season could be set for a major shakeup as a newly leaked skin may be hinting at upcoming storylines – potentially even a third faction to compete with Ghost and Shadow.
Storytelling in Fortnite has long been a slow burn. Epic Games often drop subtle teasers as a seasonal storyline builds towards a major climax. These season-ending storylines typically lead smoothly into the following act.
Season two of Fortnite’s second chapter has been no different. From the weekly Deadpool hints to the longstanding battle between the Ghost and Shadow factions.
The latest cosmetic leak has the Fortnite community going back and forth as to whether it could be teasing a massive storyline development.
An overview of the new Fortnite leak.
Following Fortnite’s latest update, prominent data miner ‘FortTory’ uncovered a brand new skin in the game’s files referred to as ‘Spy.’
The character appears as a stylish operative fit with an earpiece and plenty of weapon holsters. With his hands behind his back, the figure looks confident and all but ready for whatever action comes his way.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the cosmetic, however, is the leaked character comes with a brand new logo on his right shoulder. A silver emblem is dropped onto a black patch with golden trimming to complete the unique look.
There is a skin in the files named ‘Spy’
It has some relations to the NPC’s, could this turn out to be a NPC that will be located to an POI like the other NPC’s or will we see it somewhere else, perhaps in the lobby or just as a skin?
Also, we haven’t seen that logo before…. pic.twitter.com/TQzwV3voAg

Could this leak be teasing the future of Fortnite?
While the leaked cosmetic could be nothing more than an upcoming skin, there might be more to it than meets the eye.
The dataminer questioned whether the skin would be usable, or if the character would purely just appear as an NPC at a Point of Interest. Perhaps even just a new addition to the main menu for instance.
Others have theorized the new logo could be teasing a third, secretive faction joining the seasonal battle. Perhaps to overthrow Ghost or Shadow, or even to take them both down? There are plenty of possibilities if this leak proves to be more than just a new cosmetic.
There’s no indicating when the leak may see the light of day on the live version of the game. Only a few weeks remain until the end of season two, however. The narrative should be pushed along soon given how close we are to season three.
In the meantime, here’s a rundown on everything you need to know to prepare for Season 3, including the release date, and more.
