How to tame a wolf in Fortnite Season 6 in three easy steps

Fortnite Season 6 is all about surviving in the wilderness, and that includes the chance to turn wild wolves into loyal hunting partners.

The theme for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 is nature and the great outdoors, with new crafting abilities and a redesigned map. There are lots of animals running around too, including wolves which you can tame and make your pet.

The method for doing so is very easy, although it will involve killing an animal – and potentially a spot of cannibalism if the one you kill is a wolf.

Once you’ve tamed a wolf it will follow you around the map and protect you from other animals and players. You can only have one at a time but you can repeat the process to swap in another if you want.

To tame a wolf the first thing you have to do is find a pack. That’s not too difficult, as they are quite common, so just keep moving if there aren’t around and then follow these steps:

  1. Kill a wolf, or any other animal, and pick up the meat left behind.
  2. Hold the aim button and throw the meat towards a pack of wolves.
  3. When one of them starts eating walk up to them until you get the prompt to ‘tame’ them.

And that’s it. Once tamed the wolf will be your hunting companion, with an arrow above their head so you don’t mix them up with any of the remaining wild wolves.

As far as anyone knows there’s no way to tame other animals but that may well change over the course of the season, especially as the patch notes hint that the ‘the most fearsome predators have yet to hatch’.

What that refers to is not yet known but it sound suspiciously like dinosaurs, which also fits with the fact that Lara Croft has been added this season.

In the meantime, there are already boars, which are very dangerous, and chickens… which are not. Although the chickens can be used to float around if you catch them, in a homage to The Legend Of Zelda games.
