Marvel’s trickster god is coming to Fortnite, joining countless other licensed skins in the game from Marvel, DC, Star Wars, The Walking Dead, Stranger Things and countless other properties. I long ago lost track.
This is good timing, obviously. Loki is currently airing on Disney+ so he’s about the hottest MCU character on right now. And there’s no bitter irony at all that Thanos has just arrived in the game’s Item Shop where he can lay in wait and kill his prey all over again.
Fortunately for Loki, he will not be making it to the Item Shop. And no, he’s not the secret skin this season either—that’s Superman because Fortnite makes no sense. Instead, Loki is the July Fortnite Crew skin.
For those who don’t know, Fortnite Crew is a monthly subscription service that includes one exclusive skin per month, a handful of other cosmetics and/or loading screen and some V-Bucks, the in-game currency used to purchase other cosmetic items. And if a Battle Pass goes live that month, you get it also.
So Loki will release in July as part of this subscription and that is the only way you can get your hands on the skin. He won’t be coming to a Battle Pass or the Item Shop and you can’t win him in a special Cup. Only a Fortnite Crew subscription will bring Loki to your game.
It’s a strong selling point on Epic’s part, and Crew isn’t a terrible deal if you’re into Fortnite and spend money regularly in the game. We have yet to see an official image of Loki in-game but that should arrive soon enough.
What do you think of Season 7 so far? I think it’s a mixed bag at best. I made a video about it if you’d care to watch:
