We’ve previously reported that it seemed likely we’d be getting two more patches in Fortnite before Chapter 2, Season 3 kicks off.
Well-known Fortnite leaker and dataminer, HypeX stated that in-game files pointed to two more Fortnite updates arriving before the next Season gets truly underway.
“Epic is now working on 12.61 too, so the next 2 updates before [Chapter 2, Season 3] are 12.60 & 12.61!” the dataminer suggested.
We thought that would mean we’d be getting 12.60 this week, but more information has since come to light suggesting the game’s next update will actually arrive next week instead.
In the tweet above, HypeX investigates a string of code in the most recent update on FortniteLive and comes to the conclusion that update 12.60 will arrive next week, somewhere between May 20th and May 21st.
This means that the next update – the final patch before we move into Season 3 – will arrive the week after (in theory), coming to the game between May 27th and May 28th.
This is speculation for the moment, since Epic hasn’t actually outlined any of the information we’ve given you here, but HypeX has a pretty good track record of putting all the evidence together and coming out with realistic results.
Epic has yet to confirm when the next update will appear in-game, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear more about the company’s plans.
