Epic Games has announced the return of Stars Wars content and Fortnite Lightsabers for this week. It’s part of the annual May the 4th celebrations but the development team has also confirmed that the retuning weapons and cosmetics will not be available for long. So here’s what we know about the current Fortnite and Star Wars event and how long it might last.
HOW LONG ARE LIGHTSABERS BACK IN FORTNITE?
Epic Games has announced that Fortnite Lightsabers are back and available to use again on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Mobile.
While it isn’t a full-blown event like in the past, it is something worth checking out for the time they are available.
The Lightsabers are part of the May 4 Star Wars celebrations and that means they will be available for just a short period.
According to Epic Games, the Fortnite Lightsabers are back until May 5, 2020, without a set end time confirmed.
And depending on what time they disappear, the Fortnite Lightsabers might remain available into May 6 in some regions.
Fans will also notice other Star Wars content popping up over the next 48-hours, with cosmetics items coming back to the item shop.
And according to recent reports, challenge achievements linked to the returning Star Wars content have also been re-enabled.
A message from Epic Games explains: “Star Wars Day arrives in Fortnite. To kick off the galactic celebration, we’re bringing back lightsabers starting May 3rd along with famous Resistance fighters, First Order villains, and more from a galaxy far, far away.
“For a limited time, lightsabers return to the Island. Elegant weapons for a more civilized age, show your Jedi support with green (Luke Skywalker), purple (Mace Windu), and blue (Rey) lightsabers… or unleash your dark side with Kylo Ren’s crossguard red lightsaber.
“The Item Shop also brings back some of your favourite Star Wars-inspired Outfits, Back Blings, Emotes, and more. The Star Wars fun ends May 5th, so jump in now and fulfil your destiny.”
It looks like Kylo Ren is back in the Item Shop for May 4, Wearing his reforged helmet inspired by Darth Vader.
You can also wield a Vibro-scythe Pickaxe — inspired by one of the weapons used by the Knights of Ren.
The Zorii Bliss outfit has not returned but you can grab a Y-Wing Glider or a First Order Tie Fighter in the item shop.
There have been rumours that Epic Games is working on a big doomsday event for Fortnite Battle Royale, ahead of the Season 3 launch.
However, it seems very unlikely that we will see much in the way of new Star Wars content following this week’s short return.
