Following Fortnite’s next update on July 13, LeBron James will join the game as part of the Fortnite Icon Series. The range of in-game cosmetics celebrating the biggest names from sport, music, gaming and culture has previously featured chart-topping rapper Travis Scott as well as football stars Harry Kane and Marco Rues, with more collaborations in the pipeline.
In the last few weeks, a series of leaks have hinted that one of the icons to be added would be basketball legend, LeBron James.
Though we don’t know what the LeBron James skin will look like, a mural supposedly teasing the skin appeared on the wall at the basketball court in Believer Beach.
Following this, popular content creator SypherPK shared a video showing a package he received from Epic, containing a lightning crown and a note which read, “On July 14, the Fortnite Item Shop will be taken over by an Icon like no other. Until then, feel free to consider yourself Fortnite’s interim King.”
Given the hints, here’s what we know about the Fortnite LeBron James skin.
When is the release date for the LeBron James skin?
The note revealed by SypherPK points to the skin arriving to the game on July 13, amidst the NBA finals and as part of or shortly after the v17.20 update. Once added to the game, the skin will be launched in the item shop the following day.
How to claim the LeBron James skin and what are the quests?
According to data-miner Hypex, gamers will be able to access Fortnite King’s Bling challenges and quests to earn rewards by completing the King’s Bling challenges.
It’s also known that items will become more gold as you complete more quests and that you will be able to unlock a gold slider which will allow you to select how gold you want the LeBron James skin and cosmetics to be.
Each new Fortnite update brings a whole host of bug fixes, gameplay tweaks and new challenges to the game. In addition to the LeBron James skin, the update will also introduce new features and quests to the game as the alien invasion storyline gathers steam.
