Despite spending millions in investment, Epic Games released Fortnite as a free-to-play Battle Royale game. This is one of the biggest reasons behind the game’s colossal user-base, and has even incentivized EA and Activision to keep Apex Legends and Call of Duty Warzone free for the players, respectively.
The biggest source of income for the developers in any free-to-play title are the micro-transactions. They introduce new outfits and comsetic items constantly, and players often spend a lot of money to improve their collection. Even though these skins do not provide any advantage in combat, they are a great way to flaunt your experience in a game.
Over the four years of its release, Fortnite has released almost 1000 skins for its players. While some of these skins arrived as a part of the Battle Pass, others were only available in the Item Shop. Epic Games has now added three new sections in the shop that exclusively sell old skins.
The rumors about shop sections for vaulted skins had been floating around in the community for a long time.

Popular data miner, HYPEX, had hinted towards the same in some recent tweets:
Fortnite adds three ‘Vaulted a Year or More’ sections in Item Shop
It comes as no surprise that Fortnite’s user-base is still increasing at a steady pace. Many players quit the game in Chapter 2, but plenty of others started playing it at the same time.
Naturally, the new players cannot avail the most popular outfits in Fortnite’s history. These include Leviathan, The Reaper, Luxe, Calamity, and Raven, among many others. All these outfits were colossal hits when they released, but were vaulted soon after.
However, it seems like this narrative will change now. The ‘Vaulted a Year or More’ sections in the Item Shop will offer outfits, skins, and emotes that haven’t been seen in the game for 365 days or more.
On April 9, 2021, these cosmetics arrived in the first ever ‘Vaulter a year or more’ sections:
- Bone Wasp outfit
- Horned Strike glider
- Primal Sting pickaxe
- Field Surgeon outfit
- Triage Trooper outfit
- Flatliner harvesting tool
- Airlift glider
- Astro Assassin outfit
- Taro and Nara outfits
- Gatekeeper harvesting tool
- Flying Carp glider
Prominent Fortnite creator I Talk, spent a fortune on the aforementioned skins as soon as they arrived in the Item Shop:
It won’t be an overstatement that the addition of these classic skins made this one of the best Item Shops in Fortnite ever. It is safe to assume that the developers will continue this trend of bringing back popular outfits. Therefore, with so many lucrative skins at their disposal, the players will have to judiciously decide how they spend their V-bucks.
