Dundee esports arena may be a game-changer | Scotland

It is the city known for Dennis the Menace and Desperate Dan and its historical jute industry.

However, Dundee is taking another step into the modern era with plans to build Scotland’s first bespoke esports arena.

Council leaders are working with businesses, universities and colleges on the multimillion- pound investment plan.

The venue would be fitted with digital equipment for high-speed gaming matches and facilities to broadcast these around the world. It would have a capacity of about 4,000 seats.

The waterfront site, near the Tay Bridge and Slessor Gardens, is also likely to be used for more traditional concerts and events.
